Harwood Family Farm is owned by Brad and Melissa Harwood. We got our first Nigerian Dwarf goats in the fall of 2022. Previously we had cattle and sheep when our kids were in 4-H. Melissa grew up on a dairy farm and is a 10-year 4-H member with experience showing dairy cattle, dairy goats, hogs, and sheep. We got interested in goats and wanted to build a herd of quality animals that our grandchildren can show in 4-H and open shows. Our first open show was the Indiana State Fair in 2023. Since then, we've attended several open shows including the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. At Naile, we had one second place and a fourth place in some very competitive classes, competing against some of the best goats in the country. In ADGA sanctioned open dairy goat shows, we've had a grand champion and several first-place finishes. We are continually upgrading the quality of our stock from some of the best breeders in the country. Our stock includes a grandson of a national champion, and the dam of a reserve junior national champion. We plan to continue improving our herd and building our reputation to be able to provide affordable, quality animals for 4-H members and be competitive at the regional and national levels. Our Harwood Herd’s foundation is built on Old Mountain Farm, Wood Bridge Farm, Agape's Prize, and Honey Sweetie Acres bloodlines.
